Second Annual Artist in Residence
Butterfly Cove in Bryson City, NC
April 21-27, 2024
DEADLINE: SUNDAY, April 5, 2024
About Butterfly Cove: Central to Butterfly Cove is the philosophy that the land teaches those who listen. We are stewards working in harmony. In all our activities, we show reverence by incorporating sustainable and ethical growing practices.
Items of Note Before You Apply: If you do not appreciate nature and a rustic environment, without television and no internet this will not be right for you. This is a solo residency, with one bedroom for one resident. Because of limited space, overnight guests and pets are prohibited. The facilities are peaceful and comfortable, (think glamping).
Images of the accommodations can be found here. Images of the land, here. and a VIDEO for your convenience.
Located in Bryson City, North Carolina, the residency takes place in a rural setting. Upon acceptance, an address with written driving directions shall be provided. Please, do NOT use GPS. Follow the directions provided, which will include photographs of landmarks and turn by turn directions with exact mileage. Please respect the privacy of owners, and residents and do not add the location of Butterfly Cove to Google Maps.
Expect to encounter gravel roads with two-way traffic. The land is rolling and narrow, but not steep. Because cell carriers vary, you may have spotty coverage at Butterfly Cove. There is no high-speed connectivity or television. This is your opportunity to completely disconnect, unwind, and create. Butterfly Cove is located 4 miles from the Deep Creek Great Smoky Mountains National Park trailhead and five minutes of downtown Bryson City where you can enjoy local restaurants, shops, the library and the GSMN Railroad.
